In November 2007 a convention took place in Maastricht on the ‘Cradle to cradle’-principle which was created by the American architect William McDonough and the German chemist Michael Braungart. In the Netherlands this principle was introduced by the TV-documentary “Afval is Voedsel” (Waist is food). ORGA architect took part in organizing the convention and gave a lecture in cooperation with Willem Grotenbreg.
C2C architecture is based on designing principles which are derived from examples that can be found in natural ecosystems. When considering the use of material and the method of building in the first phase of designing we keep the entire lifecycle of the materials in mind, including the use in construction, the consequences of demolition and the recyclability. ORGA architect has been engaged in this ‘natural’ approach to architecture for years now.
ORGA architect is an active participant in the C2C network in the Netherlands.
