A 100-year old farmhouse with barn which is located in De Krim has been redesigned to function as a residence. The farm consists of an 8x10 meter front section and a 10x20 meter barn at the back. The structural design shows a clear divide between the front section of the farmhouse and the barn at the back. Because of its structural, historical and functional significance, this divide has been maintained in the new design.

Another important aspect is maintaining the spatial experience of the large interior of the barn as well as showing it rugged wooden construction. This was achieved by keeping the open space of the barn completely intact. Any added functions are placed separately inside barn to make sure that the beautiful wooden columns and beams remain in full view. Walkways further add to the spatial experience of the open interior. A large opening in de sidewall provides an abundance of daylight and offers a view of the surrounding farmlands.
